The customer was broken into in East Vancouver. The burglars just kicked the door in. Very common Break and Enter in Vancouver. You can see the door was broken and the cheap Off-Shore deadbolt just failed. Unfortunately, too many of these inexpensive deadbolts ($10-$45) are installed in Vancouver, sometimes on new condos and new buildings.

I wanted some local Honey for my tea and also wanted to try some Mead wine. Mead wine is an ancient “honey wine”, thought by many to have been the first alcoholic beverage made by man. Mead, the drink of the so-called “Age of Gold” in Greece, originated on the island of Crete and was known for its mystical properties. Referenced by the great philosopher Aristotle, mead was often produced by monks in Northern Europe, where grapes were scarce.

One the few places in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland is  Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm and Meadery and is located in southwest Abbotsford adjacent to Aldergrove south of the Fraser Hwy.

They had Mead Wine and Honey Tasting.  I really liked the Merry Mead and the Crofter’s Choice Mead wine. Also, I chose the Campbells Gold Floral – Des Fleurs Canada No 1- Dark Amber Honey. My Mead Wine is now in my Wine cabinet and I already had my first cup a tea and honey on this rainy day.  Tomorrow, Honey and Toast! Again, locally made in Abbotsford, BC.

This information is typical of a Sargent & Greenleaf (S&G), Ilco, or LaGard Safe Mechanical Group II Combination Locks.

Combination Operating Instructions:
To unlock the safe use the “Opening Index” (located at the 12 o’clock position) on the dial ring for each number. You must dial the combination precisely without backing up.

– Left 4 or more turns to the left (counterclockwise) stopping at the first number “20”
– 3 turns to the right to the 2nd number stopping at “40”
– 2 turns to the left to the 3rd number stopping at “60”
– Right to open: turn the dial to the right until it stops moving.

There are a few safes out there that are R-L-R instead of L-R-L. In that case, you utilize the same procedure except that you would reverse the direction.

The Melting Clock by Salvador Dali is called the Dance of Time I, the bronze sculpture is more than two metres high but will seem even taller on its 60 cm plinth. Dalí, who died in 1989, remains one of the 20th century’s most recognizable figures both for his distinctive Surrealist paintings and sculptures, but also for persona as a celebrity artist.

The sculpture is located in the mini-park known as Lot 19 at West Hastings and Hornby.

A melting clock is probably the one image most often associated with Dalí. Three melting clocks — as well as a stopwatch covered with ants — first appeared in Dalí’s figurative and dreamlike painting Persistence of Memory in 1931. For Surrealists, soft clocks referred to the relativity of time and space. For Dalí, symbols had a very personal meaning and often related to how he thought about objects and their ‘hardness’ or ‘softness’. He said he was inspired to create soft clocks after seeing melting Camembert cheese during a meal.

Dance of Time I is the sixth of eight sculptures made from the same mould. Although the surface of bronze can oxidize to create a green patina, the green on Dance of Time I is from an applied enamel paint. If you look at the numbers on the face of the stopwatch, numeral 6 at the bottom is missing. Dance of Time I was cast in 1984 and is valued at $750,000. It is owned by the Stratton Institute, a non-profit organization based in Switzerland.

I was visiting Lonsdale Quay Market in North Vancouver and I was pleasantly surprised to Love Locks locked on the fence.

North Vancouver joins other Love Lock locations in Vancouver, Love Lock Sculptures in Queen Elizabeth Park and Burrard Street Bridge.

Burrard Street Bridge in Vancouver British Columbia is an unofficial Love Lock Bridge. City work crews repeatedly remove padlocks from the Burrard Street Bridge. Also, the chain link fence just east of the Plaza of Nations on the False Creek seawall is another location of Love Locks.

A love locks sculpture dedicated to eternal love is now on the lookout above the Quarry Garden in Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver, BC.

A love lock or love padlock is a padlock Lovers lock on a bridge or similar public fixture to symbolize their love. Usually, you engrave your names on the padlock, lock it onto the bridge and then throw the keys into the Seine river below to symbolize their unbreakable love.

North Vancouver joins other famous Love Locks locations in Rome and Paris. The Ponte Milvio is a famous bridge in the northern part of Rome, specifically the Della Vittoria district. The bridge became so popular that, despite its strong brick foundation, the city feared it might sink from all of the locks.

People still visit Ponte Milvio to lock their padlock to the bridge and declare their eternal love, today.

Paris actually has two Love bridges, the Pont de l’Archevêché and the Pont des Arts, are probably the most well-known love lock bridges in the World. One bridge is for “lovers” and the other bridge is for “the love of your life.”
