I'm headed to University of Michigan, USA
I will be pursuing a musical theater degree at the University of Michigan. It combines dance, drama, and acting all into one field of study. I was lucky enough to have many teachers that inspired me, and my drama teacher Mr. Schulz is someone I've always looked up to. He cared about me as a student and a person. He has always been there for me whether it be an obstacle in theater, or in life.
SAS offers a plethora of opportunities to explore your passions, leaving it to individual students to make their choices. This skill in a high school setting has prepared me to take on the challenge of trying to build experiences a larger university setting.
SAS is special for many reasons. In a transient community, you meet people from different backgrounds. As the school embraces different cultures and personalities, it is evident in their fostering of a healthy, supportive community.
At SAS, I have forged relationships I truly cherish.
Over four years, I gained self confidence and built my own identity. Looking back at freshman year, I struggled with liking who I was and finding a medium to voice my ideas. Performance arts and finding friends who I truly cared about helped me gain assurance in the person I was blooming into.
I'm excited to delve deeper into what I want to study and meet new people. I am also looking forward to living outside of Asia for the first time!
