Try A Crazy Glue Craft That Will Blow Your Mind

Hi Hands On: As We Grow readers! I’m Marina, from Flash Bugs Studio, and I’m excited to be a new contributing writer for HOAWG.

I have a crazy and fun glue craft to share with you today.

When I was an elementary school art teacher, my students were obsessed with school glue. They painted glue on their hands and “watched it dry.”

Once the glue dried, they peeled it off their hands and colored it with markers. Quirky, right?

Now that I’m a mom to seven and five-year-old, I realize kid inventions are pretty cool, and it’s fun to run with them.

Crazy and Fun Glue Craft:

Making glue blobs is fun and easy for kids of all ages. To get started, make sure you have these materials on hand (affiliate links included for your convenience):

An adult needs to pour school glue onto plastic sheets (or use freezer bags) to make a circle shape.

Think of it like making pancakes! I fit four small circles onto one plastic sheet.

Next, dilute liquid watercolors, or food coloring and place each color in plastic containers. (I like diluting the colors so they look translucent when the glue dries.)

Then use a pipette or eye dropper to drop dots of color onto the glue blobs. Keep a wet paper towel handy in case your child touches the glue!

Fill all of the blobs with as many colors and watch them mix together.

Let the glue blobs dry for two or three days until they become hard like plastic.

The hardest part is waiting for the glue to dry!

Once the glue blobs are dry, the fun begins!

An adult needs to punch two holes at the top and bottom of the glue blob.

Next, I gave my child an assortment of colorful pipe cleaners and beads. Her five-year-old fingers were capable of stringing small beads through the pipe cleaners, but younger kids might need pony beads with big openings.

This is a great task to build fine motor skills!

Attach the ends of the pipe cleaners through the glue blob holes.

You can embellish the ends with a little feather (here’s an affiliate link to get them here), or simply leave the ends bare. It’s up to you! There is no right or wrong way to create this glue craft.

Tape them up in a window and enjoy these glue blobs as sun catchers, or just a cool decoration.
