For the class of 2019, the PTA will award a maximum of four scholarships in the amount of S$5000 each.
To earn a scholarship, a senior must demonstrate exemplary character, academic achievement, leadership skills, a record of community service and a strong commitment to completing a course of post secondary education. Financial need can also be presented as a factor in a candidate's application, at the discretion of the candidate and his or her family. This year a teacher recommendation is no longer needed.
Applications are now available online beginning March 18, and must be submitted no later than April 8 at 3:00 p.m.
A committee representing a cross section of parents and teachers from all divisions of SAS will select the winners. To ensure impartiality, the selection process will be blind. Each application will be identified by a code number only. Use of a name will be grounds for immediate exclusion from consideration.
The names of the recipients will be kept confidential until the Academic/Service/Activities Awards Ceremony. The scholarships will be applicable to the tuition at the college, university or other accredited post secondary institution of the recipients' choice.
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to apply.
